Here's the week prior warmed over. All of this shit deserves further elaboration. But I'm sure what little I crank out here will be a feat unto itself... GO!
We'll start off with my former favorite newspaper.
BBC Newsnight is accused of inciting racial hatred,
Strathclyde Police is investigating a BBC news team for allegedly inciting racial hatred after it had parked a car, bedecked with English flags, in a Glasgow street. We should be able to park a car in any street, irrespective of what is displayed, so will the police also be arresting the real vandals?Been nice in LA if a law like this had been on the books back during the King riots, huh?
Family of Four killed with Silenced Pistol
POLICE were last night holding a former serviceman after four members of a family were shot dead in their home with a silenced pistol.
An elderly married couple and two of their sons were found dead yesterday morning after a 40-year-old man walked into a Newcastle police station and told officers about the bodies.
The man, who is thought to have a history of mental illness, was carrying a bag containing a handgun fitted with a silencer, a pump-action shotgun and ammunition, Northumbria Police said.
He also told officers the bag contained a home-made nail bomb, forcing the station to be evacuated while bomb disposal experts from Catterick in North Yorkshire carried out a controlled explosion.
God rest their souls. That said, this should just go to show you that all the laws on paper cannot thwart one made-up mind.
Labour plan 'no children' contract for drug addicts
DRUG addicts will be told not to have children until they kick their habit under a controversial plan being considered for Labour's election manifesto.
A paper obtained by Scotland on Sunday suggests addicts sign a 'social contract' requiring that - in return for benefits, methadone and housing - they agree "not to start a family" and to end their habit.
If addicts agree to the contract but then breach it by having a family they face having their children taken into social work care, as well as the withdrawal of treatment and benefits. The draconian measures are being considered as Labour MSPs respond to a series of tragic cases where children have died as a result of neglect by drug-addicted parents.
"Draconinan"? No, making people, like moi, pay for idiots to run around in £500 ADIDAS tracksuits and matching sneakers, using government dole and stolen shit to get high and fuck, that is draconian.... Sad day when Fabian Socialists have the balls to do what our God-fearing, fiscally conservitive, limited government Republicans back in the states won't do... Then again, most this constitutes a white-on-white law, so that's totally different...
Massacred according to their identity cards
*America: Nation of Pussies*
Armed men from the al-Mahdi army, the Shiite militia loyal to radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, had sealed off roads leading to the neighbouring area of Shula in an attempt to prevent reprisals, police said, although Sadr aides denied that their militiamen were behind the shootings.
Witnesses said gunmen drove into the Jihad area in four cars at about 10am and began stopping vehicles. Those with identification cards indicating Sunni names were killed, they said.
Shiite militiamen wearing masks and black uniforms also walked around the neighbourhood, abducting Sunnis off the street. Their bodies were later dumped throughout the area. "Gunmen are killing Sunni civilians according to their ID cards," an interior ministry official said.
Wissam al-Ani, a 27-year-old Sunni calligrapher, said three gunmen stopped him as he was walking towards the bus and asked him to show them his identification. They let him go after he produced a fake ID with a Shiite name but seized two young men standing nearby.
But that could never happen with the REAL ID congress is turning your drivers license into in open silence, could it? No, no... Major props to the Scotsman for telling that one. It's stories like that keep me occasionally flicking through.
And now for a load from my dirty leftist indulgence, the incontinent,
'Magic Mushroom' Drug Study Probes Science, Spirituality
*Adventures in Quantifying Common Sense*
A universal mystical experience with life-changing effects can be produced by the hallucinogen contained in magic mushrooms, scientists claim today... They say that there is no difference between drug induced mysteical experiences and the spontaneous religioius ones that believer have reported have reported for centuries. They are "descriptively identical."Scientist grow shrooms. Scientists give shrooms to people. People trip. Good thing we have scientific falsification to tell us that one. In addition to heralding this nugget of secret elder knowledge, our secular evangelizers are so smart that they also illustrate the textbook definition of scientism. A wife shooting a husband to keep him form strangeling her is descriptively identical to a wife shooting her husband to get the estate. I mean, a CCTV would show her pointing and shooting, correct? Just the same, maybe the same portions of the brain light up in both "random" mystical experiences and the magic variety. There is one slight distinction: RELIGIOUS PEOPLE DIDN'T JUST DROP 5 GRAMS OF COWSHIT FLOWERS!
This actually brings up a humorous irony about the "science vs God" debate. Genuine scientific verification amounts to one thing and one thing only: reproducibility. This is the quintessence of peer-review. Your peers follow your stereo-insturctions and get the exact same results you say they will. All simple enough, right? But when's the last you were randomly hooked up to a EKG, CAT, or MRI device in the course of day. You weren't. And neither are people who have religious or psychic experiences. Put differently, there's a small uncontrolled variable missing here: reality. Labratories aren't reality. Labratories are where people go to get away from reality to figure out shit about reality, to begin with.
Finnally, as a personal aside, having been along the supposed golden path myself, I can tell you that the best spores Amsterdam has to offer can't hold a candle to a can of Jesus. Anybody who finds "mystical fufillment" in 'srhooms has never had a genuine religious experience found every Sunday at a church near you...
On that note, I'm off to nod.
